Barpeta: Assam Police apprehended two alleged members of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) with explosives here on Thursday.

The explosives materials include three handmade bombs, three electronic detonators, four exclusive neogen, and five mobile phones.

The nabbed persons were identified as Mokkodos Ali Ahmed from North Kaljar and Sofiqul Islam of Jania.

'' A team from Howly police under the supervision of DSP Samudra Dutta conducted a search operation at Mokkodas Ali's house in North Kaljhar. The recovered items were found in a flower garden,'' said Dr. Pradeep Saikia, ASP.

Last Friday, another suspected JMB member, Enamul Haque, was arrested from a guest house in Guwahati.

He was working as a senior staff of the guest house in the Dispur area for several years.

Earlier, the police arrested at least 16 members of Ansar al Islam, the Bangladesh chapter of Al Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) in the last two months for allegedly carrying out jihadi activities in Assam.
