Assam police recovers AK-47 rifles in BTAD's Kokrajhar & Baksa

Guwahati: A cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from Tipkai forest area of Kokrajhar district of Assam on Friday by the Kokrajhar Police.

Following specific information received, a team of police officers set out for an operation in the forest areas of Tipkai falling under the Bagribari police station in Kokrajhar district.

"Among the weapons recovered were one AK-series rifle, two AK series magazines, one polythene sheet used for wrapping and covering the rifle and magazine to which lubricant was applied and 30 of AK series ammunition in a plastic container half filled with rice husk," said Rakesh Roushan, SP of Kokrajhar. Commenting on the team's future course of action, Rakesh Roushan said, "No suspects as of now. We are investigating. Let us see."

Assam Police Additional DGP (Law and Order) GP Singh, congratulating the Kokrajhar police tweeted, "Amidst pandemic deployment, Kokrajhar Police recovered an AK Series Rifle with magazines from Tipkai OP areas. Kudos."

In a similar incident, Baksa Police also recovered three AK-Series rifles and two pistols in BTAD on Saturday.
