Assam: Police Recover Arms and Ammunition From a Residence in Morigaon District

GUWAHATI: In a significant development, the Assam Police carried out a meticulously planned operation late at night in Morigaon district, resulting in the recovery of arms and ammunition from a residential house. Under the watchful supervision of Jyotiprasad Handique, the Officer-in-Charge of Morigaon Police Station, law enforcement officials successfully seized one rifle and nine live rounds of ammunition from a residence located in Hogaltoli. The police promptly detained an individual named Sabur Uddin in connection with the seizure, as they suspected his potential involvement in dacoity or poaching activities. Sabur's apprehension is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the arms and ammunition.

Sabur Uddin, who allegedly posed as a contractor of the Public Health Centre (PHC), now finds himself in the custody of the police. Authorities have deemed it necessary to question him extensively, seeking to establish any links he may have to illicit activities, specifically related to dacoity or poaching incidents. The recovery of the arms and ammunition has raised suspicions, prompting law enforcement agencies to diligently investigate the matter and ascertain Sabur's role in the case. The objective is to uncover any potential criminal networks that may be operating in the region.

In a separate incident in Assam, law enforcement authorities made another significant seizure. This time, the focus was on a passenger bus that belonged to the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC). The bus, bearing the registration number AS 01 FC 0443, was parked at a school playground in Jordanga village, Mankachar subdivision of Dhubri district. During a thorough inspection, officials were taken aback when they uncovered an assortment of war-like stores concealed in the cabin area. The seizure included a staggering 22 pistols, six live rounds of ammunition, and approximately 8,000 narcotic Yaba tablets.

The seizure of the ASTC-operated bus has raised concerns about the possible involvement of public transportation in illicit activities. Law enforcement agencies are committed to conducting a meticulous investigation to uncover any potential networks involved in the transportation and distribution of illicit goods. The primary aim is to dismantle any criminal operations that exploit public transportation systems for their nefarious activities.

These recent incidents serve as stark reminders of the ongoing efforts by the Assam Police to combat and prevent illicit activities. Through their vigilant actions, the police aim to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. The apprehension of the suspect in Morigaon and the seizure of the ASTC bus in Mankachar underscore the dedication and determination of the authorities to uphold the rule of law and preserve public safety in Assam.
