Assam: Police Recovers Rs 5 Lakh Looted in Guwahati; Miscreants Avoid Capture

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police successfully recovered a sum of Rs five lakh that had been looted by unidentified miscreants from an individual in Guwahati's Manpara area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Fatasil Ambari police station, on Wednesday.

However, despite their efforts, all the accused involved in the crime managed to elude the police's grasp.

The incident unfolded when two miscreants snatched a bag containing the money from Narendra Kumar Bansali shortly after he had withdrawn the cash from the Fancy Bazar branch of HDFC Bank.

Promptly reporting the matter to the Fatasil Ambari police, the victim's account of the incident revealed that two suspects had been observed loitering inside the bank, seemingly on the lookout for customers withdrawing substantial sums of cash.

Once the suspects had identified their target, they promptly communicated with their accomplices stationed outside the bank. These accomplices seized the money as the victim exited the bank premises.

Based on intelligence information, the culprits were identified as Bijendra Gowala, Monu Ray, Biren, and Tiklu, all residents of West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.

Upon receiving this information, a team from the Fatasil Ambari police station swiftly conducted a raid at Bijendra Gowala's residence. Although the accused managed to evade capture upon seeing the police, the stolen amount was successfully recovered.

Authorities have launched a vigorous manhunt to apprehend the culprits, and following due procedure, the recovered amount will be returned to the victim.

Previously, in a shocking incident that unfolded last month on a Friday night, in Bamunimaidam, Guwahati, Assam, a group of armed robbers wreaked havoc in the home of a local businessman, Pranjit Das. The criminals, wielding daggers and an unknown substance, left the Das family traumatized as they made off with a staggering Rs. 10 lakh worth of jewelry, cash, and other valuable possessions. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
