Assam: Police Seize Ganja Worth Rs 47 Lakh In Karimganj District

Karimganj: Assam police on Tuesday night seized over 400 kg of cannabis worth Rs 47 lakh in the state's Karimganj district along with the Assam-Tripura border.

As per police, acting on a tip-off, a team was formed that intercepted a truck that was coming from the Tripura side and recovered 472 kg of Ganja.

The police apprehended the truck driver and registered a case against him under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

"The truck was coming from the Tripura side. During checking, our team recovered 472 kg of ganja from the truck. We apprehend the truck driver identified as Sajala Debbarman. We have registered a case under NDPS Act," ANI quoted Niranjan Das, In-charge of Churaibari police as saying.

Das further informed that the market value of the seized ganja is around Rs 47 lakh.
