BAKSA: Assam Police have intensified operations against drugs throughout the State. Baksa district police have also intensified the anti-drugs drive in the district.

In charge of Kumarikata police outpost, Nilabhjyoti Nath, with a police team led by Tamulpur subdivision police officer Aseema Kalita and officer in-charge of Tamulpur Police Station, Inspector Dwipen Kalita raided the Kumarikata market along the Indo-Bhutan border under Tamulpur police station in the district of Baksa on Monday and managed to seize a large quantity of ganja. Circle Officer of Tamulpur Revenue Circle and magistrate Rupkamal Rabha were also present while seizing the ganja.

Following secret information, Tamulpur Police raided Kumarikata market and arrested a 24-year-old youth named Ambrush Narzary and seized 8.97 kg of ganja from his possession. Police seized the ganja while the youth was coming to the Kumarikata market from Rowta in Udalguri district riding a motorcycle without number plate. The motorcycle has been seized by police. A case has been registered against the arrested youth at Tamulpur police station.
