GUWAHATI: Assam Police is trending yet again for their ability to spread knowledge in an unusual method. This time their tweet regarding cyber safety is what went viral. The tweet had a simple picture to spread a clear and crucial message regarding online safety.

Assam Police shared an image of the blue sky with their logo in one corner and an arrow directed towards ALT at another corner. When clicked, the image description warns users not to click random links on the internet to ensure safety in the cyber world. The short tweet read, “Click to know more!” When the user clicks the image’s ALT badge, a small pop-up window appears with the message, “Remember, don’t just ‘mouse’ around the web, ‘click’ with caution.” It also contains the hashtag #ThinkBeforeYouClick.

The term “ALT” is commonly used for alternate in cyberspace and usually represents alternate text. In Twitter, it refers to the image descriptions and users can check the same under the ALT badge.

Users of Twitter praised the effort of the Assam Police and this innovative idea of using a simple and straightforward image to convey a very powerful message aiming at preventing cyber crimes even before they take place. The tweet received thousands of views and hundreds of likes and shares.
