Assam Polls 2021: Great day for the winners of BJP, INC & AIUDF

SILCHAR: In view of the surging second wave of Coronavirus, the political parties – the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), the INC (Indian National Congress) and the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front), did not go for any celebration strictly in compliance with ECI (Election Commission of India) directive. Voters and people in general welcomed the decision of ECI, for such jollity and mirth can take place once the normal situation returns and COVID-II subsides. The celebration after the final counting of votes was symbolic outside the NATRIP centre where the counting of votes took place. A handful of supporters garlanded their candidates, splashing colour on them. However, there was no procession or slogan shouting or bursting of crackers.

It was no doubt a great day for the winners who after days of hard work got what they expected 'Victory.' All of them including the second time winners vowed to work for people and win their confidence and support. For BJP, all was not well as its tally of seats came down from nine to six — a loss of three seats. Congress increased its tally from two to four while its ally AIUDF too added two more seats to make it 5. This was a comparative figure of 2021 with 2016.
