MORIGAON: Morigaon district administration has declared government holiday on April 1 in view of the assembly election in the district on that day. Government offices, institutions, private institutions, tea gardens and industries will remain closed for the day. Even all banks under the NI Act 1881(25) will remain closed for the day. Also, in view of the upcoming second phase election in the district, the Deputy Commissioner has declared Dry Day throughout the district w.e.f. March 30 to April 1 and May 2, 2021.

BARPETA: Barpeta district magistrate Munindra Sarma declared dry day in Barpeta district from March 29 to March 30 till 6 pm as per section 52(I) of Assam Excise Act for the peaceful observation of Doul Festival. In a different order, the District Magistrate declared dry day from April 4 to April 6 in the entire district in view of the assembly election. Accordingly, all the retail outlets of IMFL, off and on licensee shops in Barpeta district will be kept closed. The sale of all kinds of liquor has been banned.
