Assam Power Distribution Power Limited staff assaulted in Udalguri district

TANGLA: A team of Assam Power Distribution Power Limited (APDCL) officials and staff were allegedly assaulted by a consumer whose electricity connection was cut off for not paying outstanding bills, in the Godhuli Bazar locality of Dimakuchi in the Udalguri district on Saturday.

According to reports, the accused consumer, identified as Bimal Basumatary, and his accomplices attacked the team of APDCL comprising Darpan Bhuyan, Biman Deka and Bhrigu Sarania, wherein meter reader Bhrigu Sarania sustained severe head and body injuries. The Tangla Electric Sub-Division has lodged an FIR in this regard with Dimakuchi Police. The police have registered a case (83/23) under relevant provisions of IPC and are investigating the matter.
