KHERONI: The Golden Jubilee of the Karbi Youth Festival will be organised in 2024 with a 10-day-long celebration. The Jengkha Regional Committee of the organisation has already started preparing for the event.

The central organising committee of the Karbi Youth Festival visited Kheroni, officially flagged off the preparations for the event, and started the necessary procedure for smooth conduct. As a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Karbi Cultural Society had decided to felicitate the organising committees of the previous editions with a certificate. And the members of the organising committee of the Golden Jubilee celebrations presented these certificates to the previous organisers of the event. They also paid their homages to the members of the organising committee who have already passed away.

The 49th edition of the annual celebration was flagged off earlier this year. The festival was declared open by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang in presence of MLAs, and all the elected representatives from all constituencies, DC, SP, and leaders of different political parties and delegations.

The annual festival commenced with a grand procession called Rongketong taken out by 27 KCS (Karbi Cutural Society) zones including cultural troupes from Meghalaya and Morigaon district. This was immediately followed by hoisting of KCS flag and speech by president Chandra Sing Kro. He welcomed all guests, delegations, participating zones, leaders of various political parties and organisations and expressed gratitude to the founders of the ethnic festival. This was followed by speech by Karbi Anglong Council CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang who also expressed gratitude to the KCS founders including Roy Enghi and Lunse Timung who were present at the ceremony. He also recited poetry on the KYF and calling for unity and brotherhood urging leaders of all political parties to work together for the preservation of the rich culture and traditions.
