Assam: Rath Yatra to be Organised in Golaghat from June 20

GOLAGHAT: Preparations are underway as the Sri Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra will be organised for the first time from June 20 in Golaghat. The organisers mentioned that a large number of devotees will take part in the event including foreigners from Russia, Cambodia, Spain, Brazil, Cuba, Chile, Costa Rica and Bangladesh.

The event will be organised from June 20 to June 28 in the Golaghat town said the organisers. The organising committee including president Diganta Kumar Bhuyan, working president Pradeep Bakliwal and secretary Mohan Gogoi addressed members of the press to share the details of the preparations. The proposed Rath Yatra has been approved by ISKCON Mayapur.

The Rath Yatra will start at around 3:30 PM on June 20 from the Srimanta Nagar locality of Golaghat and move around the town before coming to a halt at the Kalibari Temple located near the Batmahal on Station Road. The festivities will continue at Kalibari Temple will June 28 which includes Maha Yagya and Kirtan Path.

The organisers mentioned that the event will create a completely spiritual environment in Golaghat town. Several senior members of ISKCON are expected to be present for the event and the event is expected to be inaugurated by a member of the legislative assembly representing the Sarupathar constituency, Biswajit Phukan. Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is also expected to be present for the event along with Agriculture Minister Atul Bora and Member of Parliament, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa. Several other eminent personalities are also expected to attend the event.

Also, the Women’s Cell, Golaghat Commerce College organized a one-day workshop on NEP 2020- It's Nitty Gritty and implementation in UG Programmes recently. The workshop was held on the college premises with the objective of facilitating teachers and academicians to understand the nuances of NEP 2020 with reference to UG programmes. More than 50 teachers from various colleges of Golaghat district participated in the programme.
