GUWAHATI: A good news for the entire team of Assam Rifles arrived on 12th January, Thursday. Tamil Nadu police and CPRF conducted the 23rd All India Police Shooting Championship, starting from 9th of January, Monday. 

Assam Rifles gained victory at the overall medal tally. As many as 700 shooters came from 13 states in India and contested for the trophy. The event took place at Othivakkam at Chengalpattu.

BSF Ranjith H secured the first position in the individual category, Santhosh Kumar of Andhra Pradesh Police in the second and Hetram of Rajasthan police department secured the third position.

In another category namely, carbine gun category, Rajasthan police bagged the first position while CRPF second. The competition was flagged off on Monday by DGP C Sylendra Basu.

On the first day of the contest, one official from Assam Rifles and a policeman from Assam secured gold in three competition. They gave it their best shot in the category pistol shooting practise 15 yards squatting, rifles shooting practise 100 yards standing and pistol shooting practise 25 yards quick reflex shooting.

Among the states, TN came in the first position. The chief minister, MK Stalin will present the awards and trophies on Friday at an event.

Assam Rifles is central paramilitary force of Assam who look after the border security, counter-insurgency, and maintains the law and order of the state. The Assam Rifles is considered the most oldest of all paramilitary force in India.

Assam Rifles has been winning hearts of every individual in the northeast states through its tremendous work and success over the period of time. The force has been actively working in the not so easy regions of the state. Apart from military activities, the organisation takes part in various other concerning fields.
