BISWANATH: A robbery took place in the Biswanath region of the state raising concerns about the law and order situation in the state.

The robbers entered a business establishment via their ceiling and managed to rob Rs 40000 in cash. The incident took place in the shop named Sri Shyam Bhandar located on the premises of the Assam State Transport Corporation bus stand of the Biswanath region. The incident took place at about 5:30 AM on Friday and the whole incident was captured on the closed circuit cameras installed in the premises of the shop.

The owners noticed the problem when they came to open the business establishment in the morning hours and found that the items in the shop were scattered. Meanwhile, the owners informed the Biswanath Police Station and a team arrived to take stock of the situation. The officials also mentioned that an operation has been initiated to find those involved in the incident.

This was not the first time that such an incident had taken place in Biswanath.Yet another incident of robbery has taken place in the Biswanath town of Assam and the modus operandi is the same as that of multiple previous incidents that took place in the same region. This incident took place in the Madhupur locality of Bisawanth at noon. The robbers broke into the victim’s residence through a ventilator. The owner of the house, Bhodiram Kalita mentioned that the the incident took place at around 11:30 AM when no one was at home.

According to the victim, gold ornament, cash and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees. The robbers also broke into the safe to keep valuables and stole several items. They also went through the other storages and destroyed several properties. A case was registered against the robbers at the Biswanath Chariali police station and the officials visited the residence where the robbery had occurred as a part of the investigation. It can be noted that the residence was robbed previously as well according to the victims.
