RAHA: In a shocking incident, an unknown thief opened the storage box of a two-wheeler and stole Rs 4 lakhs in cash which was kept in the box. And the whole incident was captured on camera.
The incident took place in the Chaparmukh locality, just in front of the Chaparmukh police outpost. The victim of the incident Jadav Bora, who is a resident of the Chokial Goan region of the state mentioned that he had parked his vehicle outside a shop which is directly opposite the Chaparmukh police outpost with the cash in the storage and went inside the shop.
On returning to his vehicle, Jadav Bora found the box open and the cash missing. He approached the police outpost on the opposite side of the road immediately and registered a complaint regarding the incident. The victim, who is a businessman by profession mentioned that he had withdrawn the cash from the Raha branch of the State Bank of India and kept the same in the storage of his two-wheeler vehicle bearing the registration number AS 02 AE 7045.
Meanwhile, Chaparmukh Police collected recorded CCTV footage of the locality to find the miscreants involved in the incident.
A few days before this incident, two robberies were reported on the night of Friday in the town of Digboi. The first incident took place at the residence of Dhrubajyoti Baruah located in Number 2 Borbeel in Digboi. The robbers made way with over Rs 2 lakhs worth of gold and cash from their house. The second incident took place at the residence of Abidul Ismail Bora located in the N S Area locality. The robbers of this incident stole around Rs 17 lakh worth of gold, Rs 75000 in cash and several utensils made of brass and bell metal.
The local police have registered cases regarding the incident and started their investigations. And they have questioned Zakir Hussain and his wife, both belonging to the N S Area locality with regard to the second incident.
