Assam: Sandipan Endow, Former Silchar Municipality Board chairman dies

SILCHAR: The last rites for Sandipan Endow, the former chairman of the Silchar Municipality Board (SMB) and the Silchar Development Authority, took place on Wednesday in Silchar. Endow died at the age of 76 in a private hospital in Guwahati on Tuesday following renal failure. The former AGP leader left behind his wife, Tapati Endow, and two daughters. His elder daughter, Saptati Endow, is the Additional Deputy Commissioner in Hailakandi. Sandipan Endow, popularly known as Chayan Endow, was the Silchar Municipality Board chairman during the AGP regime in the 80s. He, however, distanced himself from active politics subsequently. Chayan Endow was a popular theatre actor too. The mortal remains of Endow were brought back to Silchar on Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning, his body was taken to the SMB Development Authority office, where floral tributes were paid.
