LAKHIMPUR: Sanskritik Mahasangram, the Assam Government’s initiative taken to provide a platform for the cultural talents across the State, has been getting underway in Lakhimpur district in enthusiastic environment since November 10. In the district, the extravaganza was inaugurated in Bihpuria LAC by covering 9 Gaon Panchayats and one Municipal Board. ADC Minakshi Perme, District Cultural Officer Bidyadhar Deuri, local administrative officials including the Panchayati Raj Institution members, civic bodies attended the inaugural session of the competition events.

The competition events have been conducted by the Cultural Department in three categories: Group A, featuring participants aged 12 to 18; Group B, comprising participants aged 19 to 24; and Group C, accommodating participants aged 25 to 35. The contestants have showcased their talents in Jyoti Sangeet, Bishnu Rabha Sangeet, Bhupendra Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet, Bihu Dance (group), and Folk Dance (group) of Assam. These performances have been organized in the district at Gaon Panchayat and municipal board level at present.

The first, second, and third-position winners of these levels will advance to the Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) level competition. Subsequently, the winners at the LAC level will compete at the district level competition and then the grand finale of the extravaganza will be held in Guwahati, where all district-level winners will vie for the State-level championship. Winners will receive certificates, mementoes, and cash rewards, with prizes starting from the LAC level.

Lakhimpur District Cultural Officer Bidyadhar Deuri informed that the Gaon Panchayat and civic body level competition events had been completed on Monday in the 18 Gaon Panchayats and 2 municipal boards under the Bihpuria LAC on Monday. The competition of the same levels will kick-start in Naoboicha LAC on Tuesday. It will be followed by Lakhimpur LAC and Dhakuakhana LAC respectively. The District Cultural Officer expressed satisfaction regarding the enthusiastic participation of the cultural talents of the district in the events.
