Assam: Scholars from Germany visit Akash Science Centre

A team of German scholars comprising Carolin Schonge, project coordinator of Childaid Network, Germany, and Abhijit Konch, senior program associate, Childaid Network based in Jorhat, accompanied by a team of Aide et Action, India, Sameer Dutta, Senior Project Manager (Education) and Rajat Hazarika, District Coordinator, Biswanath, visited the Akash Science and Environment Education Centre.

JAMUGURIHAT: A team of German scholars comprising Carolin Schonge, project coordinator of Childaid Network, Germany, and Abhijit Konch, senior program associate, Childaid Network based in Jorhat, accompanied by a team of Aide et Action, India, Sameer Dutta, Senior Project Manager (Education) and Rajat Hazarika, District Coordinator, Biswanath, visited the Akash Science and Environment Education Centre.

They took stock of the teaching process of science in the Kendra and learned from Khiradhar Baruah how he works round-the-clock to build a scientific temperament among people and to popularize science among school children. After observing the science centre, Carolin Schonge said that the teaching process of Akash Science and Environment Education Centre is almost similar to that of Germany. Carolin Schonge, Coordinator of Childaid Network, Germany said, “It is amazing to see how you teach science to the children and create a joyful learning experience.”

The Akash Science and Environment Education Centre was founded by renowned science writer and national award-winning science fiction writer Khiradhar Baruah in 2001 at Biswanath Chariali to inculcate scientific temperament among children and common people.
