GUWAHATI: On suspicion of physically and psychologically assaulting a student, the principal of a senior secondary school in Assam's Kamrup district was taken into custody.
The Kalatoli Kathmi Anchalik Senior Secondary School in Kamrup's Boko has received reports of the incident. The principal has been identified as Rafiqul Alam.
According to reports, Alam was detained on the final day of his tenure as the school's principal. According to reports, a female student named Helmina Begum, chose to take her own life on January 7 by ingesting poison.
Following the event, her mother filed a police report (FIR) against the principal, Rafiqul Alam, stating that he had physically and mentally abused the student, which was the reason for her taking such a drastic step.
Apart from the principle, accusations have also been made against four other people, including a woman. The incident is currently the subject of an extensive investigation by the Boko Haram police.
In another similar incident, a married woman was sexually assaulted by a science teacher at Kuchila High School in Assam's Hailakandi district, following which the teacher was arrested.
The teacher suspected of sexual assault was apprehended by the police after the victim's report was filed on February 21. The controversial instructor has been identified as Siddharth Shekhar.
In her complaint, the victim woman claimed that the aforementioned teacher had touched her inappropriately and also tried to rape her.
In the Dergaon police training centre, a shocking incident occurred where a male police constable allegedly tried to rape a female police trainee.
An unidentified female police trainee was reportedly admitted to a hospital inside the training facility on February 23 after feeling sick. The woman is said to have been the target of an attempted rape by the male police officer, Babul Bhuyan, who was on duty at the time.
The victim reported the event to a higher authority, but she said that top authorities did nothing despite her protests. The entire incident wasn't revealed until February 26. The issue was reported after its due date, according to the SP of Golaghat.
