Assam: School Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault Arrested

Guwahati: A 48-year-old school teacher was apprehended on Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl student in Assam's Karimganj district.

As per reports, the police nabbed the accused after the girl's parents lodged a complaint at Bazaricherra police.

The matter came to light on Tuesday, when the girl refuses to go to school. When the mother asked about the reason, the girl apprised her of one teacher named Kamala Kanta Sinha who allegedly sexually abused her repeatedly.

It has also been revealed that the accused teacher has even threatened the girl not to tell about the incident to anyone.

Following the complaint, the police have Sinha, under section 376AB of the Indian Penal Code (sexually assaulting females under twelve years of age) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
