Assam: Schools in Dima Hasao Will be Closed for Five Days Due to The Anticipated Heavy Rain

GUWAHATI: The Dima Hasao district will likely get significant rains, according to the Indian Meteorological Department. The decree will go into force on June 13th, 2023.

All schools in the larger Haflong, Harangajao, Mahur, and other landslide-prone districts of the Dima Hasao District will stay closed for five days, according to a notice published on June 12 by the Office of the Inspector of Schools.

The closure is in response to the Indian Meteorological Department's forecast of severe rainfall that is anticipated to affect several areas of the district.

The Assam government has taken this proactive step to reduce any potential concerns that may develop owing to the bad weather conditions with the safety and wellbeing of students in mind. The five-day closure will begin on June 13, 2023, and will last until that day.

Given the susceptibility of these sites to landslides during periods of heavy rain, the decision to close the schools is intended to ensure the safety of the children, teachers, and staff. The authorities intend to prevent any undesirable situations and promote a secure atmosphere for all educational institutions by temporarily suspending academic activities.

All school administrators and administration have been advised by the Office of the Inspector of Schools to rigorously abide by the closure orders and take the appropriate safety precautions during this time. They also suggested that parents and children keep up with weather reports and adhere to any directions issued by the relevant authorities.
