DHUBRI: Second edition of ‘Sargadopi Gorioshi’ written by renowned numismatist, SK Bose on the glorious history of yesteryears of Dhubri and Gauripur, was released recently at a grand function held under the auspices of Kolkata-Dhubri Sanmilani at Dhubri Hari Sabha.

The first edition of ‘Sargadopi Gorioshi’ was on Dhubri, but the author in this second edition included Gauripur, a seat of Royal Family of Gauripur.

The book was formally released by a member of Gauripur Royal Family, Probir Coomer Barua, who in his brief speech expressed his happiness and thanked Bose for his efforts to bring out a book on historical facts of this western parts Assam.

His serious involvement in Northeast numismatics made him a well known researcher in India and abroad within a relatively short time. His first book, ‘Coins And Tokens of Assam’ (1715 - 1937,) was published by the North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. His joint research on North East Indian coinage with Nicholas Rhodes, an internationally respected numismatist, resulted in seven numismatic books on the region which were well appreciated by reputed Indian and foreign universities.
