GUWAHATI: Assam Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu was present at a event to officially launch the 'Siksha Setu Axom' portal at an event in Guwahati on Monday (April 24).

The 'Siksha Setu Axom' portal aims to incorporate comprehensive details about schools in the state, including information about staff and students.

The portal was launched at an event that took place at Kahilipara in Guwahati, and Ranoj Pegu graced the occasion while the portal was formally unveiled. In keeping with the launch of the portal, a 'School Profile Updation Week' will be observing across Assam from April 24 to April 30, 2023. During this period, all relevant information regarding schools will be uploaded onto the portal.

Delivering a speech at the event, Ranoj Pegu highlighted the importance of the portal towards upgrading the education sector.

Pegu said, "With the help of this portal, we are looking to take things forward in terms of revamping the education sector.”

Ranoj Pegu further emphasized the importance of the 'School Profile Updation Week' in a tweet. He wrote, "From April 24-30, 2023, we will be observing the School Profile Updation Week, wherein 360-degree information on schools will be uploaded on the Siksha Setu Axom Portal.”

The education minister also asked the Principals, Headmasters, and Headmistresses of elementary and secondary schools to upload the relevant details regarding their respective schools on the portal.

Through the 'Siksha Setu Axom' portal, the state goverment is expected to streamline the inclusion and maintenance of accurate information about schools in Assam. The move is also expected to facilitate efficiency in the administration and decision-making in the education sector.

Assam govt also conducts Gunotsav to assess learning outcomes among students in the state.

Gunotsav, an initiative of the Government of Assam, is conducted covering all Govt Elementary and Secondary schools in the state. All Ministers and Civil Servants and officers of various departments of the State government are involved in conducting Gunotsav. Student based assessment of learning outcome is conducted through Gunotsav in the state.

This year, Gunotsav-2023 was conducted from 18th of January to 18th of February in three phases.

In these three phases, Gunotsav was held in a total 44,530 schools comprising Govt./Provincialised schools, Tea Garden Management schools, Adarsha Vidyalaya, Tea Garden Model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya.
