LAKHIMPUR: The three-day long concluding ceremony of the year-long celebration of silver jubilee festival by College of Teacher Education, Dhakuakhana has been underway since Friday in a festive environment. On the first day, the agenda of the event began with a massive plantation drive, organized under the auspices of the Trainees’ Union of the college. It was inaugurated by ‘Aranya Manab’, Padma Shri Jadav Payeng. Speaking on the occasion, Jadab Payeng appealed to the people of the State to come forward to combat pollution and to be aware of climate change. He laid stress on moulding the upcoming generations to be the friends of nature so that they could render their noteworthy contribution for the environmental conservation. He expressed his concern over the high rate growth of population in India which has posed to be the major cause of environmental pollution. Then Principal Dr. Pradip Chandra Borah hoisted the college flag while celebration committee president Purnananda Gogoi hoisted the silver jubilee flag. Smriti Tarpan programme was conducted by Hemprabha Dutta and Bholanath Gogoi, the president of the Society for College of Teacher Education.

Xatradhikar of the Basudev Than Naruwa Xatra, Bhupendra Dev Goswami inaugurate the vehicle stand of the college, constructed with the fund donated by the former trainees of the college. It was followed by the stage inaugural programme, which began with a chorus song presented by the trainees of the college. The stage of the ceremony was inaugurated by Sewok Chandra Chutia, Associate Professor of Dhakuakhana College. In his lecture, Chutia said, “Knowledge is power. The academic institutions are the seedbed of knowledge. College of Teacher Education, Dhakuakhana has set unique example for others by spearheading a movement for spreading knowledge and empowering the society in the North Assam in past twenty five years”.

The second day agenda of the event on Saturday started with registration of the former trainees of the college . It was followed by a symposium on “Role of teachers, parents and society in moulding the students into good citizens of future”.
