GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate happening on Saturday morning, six school going girls got wistfully injured in Assam's Dhubri district. The road mishap occurred at Tamarhat area of the region. 

As per sources, the girls were heading towards their school in an e-rickshaw when a speeding two wheeler bike collided head on with the rickshaw. However, the man in the two wheeler did not receive any sort of major injury. 

On the other hand, the e-rickshaw had turned upside down in the middle of the road resulting in grievous injuries to the school girls. People around rushed near the spot of incident and took the girls to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. 

Recently, a tragic episode took place in Kendukona, Kamrup, under the jurisdiction of Kamalpur police station. Four people including a pair of siblings suffered major injuries after being hit by a car in NH-31. 

According to statements of the local people, the car which had hit the people was driven by a doctor who was intoxicated. He was approaching towards Nalbari when the incident occurred. Two siblings namely, Gayatri Das and Abinash Das died in the episode. 

Two other individuals identified as Sumi Das and Ainul Haque were rushed to the hospital. Earlier, a Maruti Suzuki Dzire hit an auto-rickshaw on the Tinsukia Guijan road, causing a fatal road accident at Guijan in the Tinsukia district. 

Three people travelling in the auto rickshaw received major injuries, however, the driver identified as Krishna Mili died on spot. The driver who was inside the Swift, escaped the situation however, the vehicle was set on fire by a enraged crowd. Police arrested three people for the act of violence during the incident. 

Road accidents in the region is currently a major concern of the state, but the concerned departments are putting in rapid efforts to minimise such tragedies.
