Guwahati: A special court in Assam's Hailakandi district has sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 for sexually abusing an 11-year-old minor boy.

The covicted man identified as Piyar Uddin Laskar was booked under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

"........the convict Piyar Uddin Laskar is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years for the offence charged under Section 377 of IPC. He is also sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life along with a fine of Rs 20,000 for the offence charged under Section 4 of the POCSO Act, 2012, in default of payment of fine, he shall undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 6 months," the order copy read.

As per reports, Laskar sexually abused the minor boy in the Lala Rural College campus in Hailakandi district on June 5, 2018.

As soon as the parents came to know about the same, an FIR was lodged by the father of the boy against Laskar at Lala Police station.

Later, police nabbed him and submitted the charge sheets before the court on June 30, 2018.
