LAKHIMPUR: Two block-level women’s cells under the Assam State Commission for Women were formed in Lakhimpur district on Wednesday. These women’s cells were formed covering the Lakhimpur Development Block and Boginadi Development Block.
In this connection, a meeting was held in the conference hall of the Lakhimpur Development Block office, which commenced with a presentation made by Assistant Engineer Jugal Hazarika. The objective of the meeting was explained by Block Development Officer Seuti Doley. The meeting was chaired by Dr Hem Prabha Borthakur, the chairperson of the Assam State Commission for Women.
Dr Borthakur said that the women must play leading role in order to ensure the mobility of a society in right direction. “Similarly, the members of the Women’s Cell will play an active role to ensure that the women of the society do not fall victim to crimes and to protect them from the same.
They must raise awareness about the Acts implemented to empower women academically, financially and to protect them from crimes,” she said.
