Assam State Housing Board to complete all schemes by April

LAKHIMPUR: “Assam State Housing Board (ASHB) has taken active steps for the proper implementation of the schemes taken by the State Government through the Board. As per the directive of the government, ASHB is paying much importance to complete the incomplete schemes taken up by the previous government too. These schemes will be completed by April,” said Subhas Dutta, the vice-chairman of ASHB while interacting with media persons of Lakhimpur in Circuit House.

With a view to make the endeavour of the government a reality, the vice-chairman on Wednesday visited Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts in order to make a spot survey of the progress of the schemes taken through the Board. During the visit, he instructed all concerned to accelerate the implementation work without wasting time.

Highlighting various schemes taken by the State government, the vice-chairman informed that several schemes under the Scheduled Tribe (Plain) Welfare Department had been taken to improve the academic environment of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji. “As part of these schemes, Rs 50 lakh has been granted to Lakhimpur Girls’ College in order to construct additional classrooms while the same amount of fund has been allotted each to Bihpuria College, Bahgara HS School and Matmara High School. Similarly, Rs 50 lakh has been granted for the construction of girls’ hostel in North Bank College in Dhakuakhona where a cultural centre will be constructed under the Cultural Department. A stadium will be constructed at Boginadi with latest technology,” he further added.

He said that the construction of 26 model hospitals in different places of the State was about to be completed due to the active role of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal as well as State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. A Karam Bhavan will be constructed in each of the 750 tea estates of Assam. Further, the State government is initiating steps to establish Football Academy at Rangapara and Tinsukia while an archery academy will be established in Sonari. All these schemes taken up by the department will be implemented across the State with a fund of Rs 100 crore.
