TINSUKIA: The 3-day Asomi Bohagi Mela organized by State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM) Tinsukia Branch got underway at the premises of Dak Bungalow Thana Chariali Tinsukia on Monday with the inauguration by the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia Swapneel Paul. The fair will be held till April 12 and a total of 31 shops were displayed with the participation of 70 women self-help groups, rural organizations and mandal level organizations from Guijan, Itakhuli, Margherita, Kakpathar, Hapjan, Saikhowa and Sadiya sectors of ASRLM.

The festival features traditional costumes, locally woven handlooms, all kinds of pitha-pana, jalpan, jetuka, amrali top, 101 kinds of vegetables etc. The District Commissioner urged the participating women to capture the local market with locally produced items. He also visited all shops in the pavilion and interacted with the organizers. Paul officially presented PGS Green Certificates to four organic groups at the function. The event was attended by District Project Manager, ASRLM, Tinsukia branch, Manjit Gogoi besides other officers and employees.

DHUBRI: The 3-day Dhubri Asomi Bohag Mela, organised under the auspices of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission, Dhubri,2023, was inaugurated by Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Dibakar Nath at Raja Prabhat Chandra Barua Field here on Tuesday. There are Handloom, handicrafts and Bihu food item stalls put up by artisans of various groups for exhibition-cum-sale which will continue till April 13. Besides these, many stalls also opened traditional handicrafts and handloom item of Bodo community for sale.

After inauguration, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner, Dibakar Nath, Chief Executive Officer of Dhubri Zila Parishad, Biswajit Goswami and Chairman of Dhubri Municipal Board, Dr. Debamoy Sanyal visited the stalls and interacted with the artisans and encouraged them.
