SIVASAGAR: With an aim to render support to schools and underprivileged students in the sphere of education and make education more inclusive, the IQAC of Gargaon College has undertaken various initiatives. As part of such ventures, the Department of Statistics Gargaon College organized a Volunteer Teaching Programme on October 27 and October 28. Under this mission, several students of the Department of Statistics visited government primary and ME Schools in their native villages. Swarnimraj Baruah, a student of B.Sc 5th Sem (Hons) visited Owtala ME School and imparted lessons on arithmetic to 6th and 7th standard students.

Prakash Gogoi visited Nabil Mojdur Prathamic Vidyalaya where he taught selected concepts of grammar to the students. Kuki Anananya Borgohain visited Bogibill ME School and taught uses of data to the 8th standard students. Mondeep Gogoi and Sailendra Phukon visited Nath Gaon LP School where Mondeep Gogoi discussed some mathematical concepts such as symmetry, fraction, perimeter, range etc. to 3rd and 4th grade students and Sailendra Phukon taught how to draw bar diagram and also discussed the basic concept of division and multiplication to the students. Priyanka Konwar visited Bebgmuria Konwar Gaon LP School and taught some basic concept of numbers to the students. Rakesh Phukon visited Telia Pathar Majalia Vidyalaya where he imparted certain life skills to the students. The programme was coordinated by Dr Bornali Dutta, Assistant Professor and Head of the department of Statistics, Gargaon College.
