Assam: Sub-Inspector apprehended for accepting bribe in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Wednesday made a significant breakthrough while carrying on the fight against corruption in the Lakhimpur district. Sleuths caught a Sub-Inspector (UB) at Panigaon Police Station immediately after he had accepted a bribe. The Sub-Inspector has been identified as Merafat Ali. As per the information received, Merafat Ali took Rs 5,000 from the complaint in the Police Station to grant him bail in a criminal case.
