DOOMDOOMA: The closing ceremony of the 17 days of Summer Cricket Training was organised by the Doomdooma Cricket Academy. The training is coached by the former cricketer, Sadananda Viswanath and Sujit Rana in the Doomdooma Cricket Academy were greeted by phulam gamocha, seleng chadars and presented with a memorial felicitation letter by the young trainees in the form of expression of love and guru dakshina.
On 9th July, Monday, International cricketer Sadananda Viswanath started his cricket training at Doomdooma town ground. He is currently serving the nation as a first-class umpire and a coach. Parallelly, the prominent cricketer Sujit Rana has started his training with trainees for fitness. He is playing for the Darshanam Super Giants Cricket Team.
The 17-day cricket training programme concluded with a valedictory programme in the presence of the locals and the trainees for both the cricketers. The trainees were taught various tips and techniques of cricket along with fitness training. The training was conducted by the reception committee led by Dr Pranabjyoti Deka. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Assam Cricket Association President Taranga Gogoi and other dignitaries. It is also reported that 70 young men and women from the Doodooma region were trained at The Doomdooma Cricket Academy. The former cricketers also expressed immense happiness regarding their 21 days of stay in Doomdooma and conveyed their compliments to the people of the state.
Recently, Uma Chetry of Assam was picked for the Indian women’s cricket team for the upcoming three-match T20I and ODI series against Bangladesh which began on July 9. The 20-year-old Uma, who hails from Bokakhat, has been selected as a wicket-keeper of the squad. All six matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team.
