GUWAHATI : Adding to the list of offences that took place in Guwahati yesterday, a car was stolen from Dispur flyover in broad daylight. A Bolero was purloined by car thieves from under the Supermarket flyover in Dispur. 

The owner of the vehicle has been identified as Rajibur Haque, a resident of Assam's Dhubri district. Haque registered a complaint against the occurrence, at the nearest Dispur Police station. As per the sources, the bolero bearing registration number AS17 H 8622, was whisked away by the looters while it was parked under the flyover. 

Rajibur Haque came to Guwahati for the treatment of his son. The car was stolen while Haque went to admit his son in a private hospital. 

It is to be noted that, a woman was looted on gunpoint on Monday morning. She was threatened by unidentified miscreants in Satgaon area of Guwahati and snatched away her gold ornaments. The culprit as per sources, came in a two wheeler and had covered their faces with helmets. 

The lady has been identified as Tutumoni Rabha, a resident of Pragatinagar area. Meanwhile, an FIR was registered in a local police station and investigation to nab the criminals has been launched by the department. However, the OC of Satgaon police stated that, a CCTV footage has been recovered in relation with the incident but its too hazy. 

On the same day, a lower primary teacher identified as Gultaj Begum, was looted at gunpoint at Gandhibasti area. The lady confronted that she walking in that area and two youths came in a bike and pointed a gun towards her. The road was quite empty and nobody was present when the episode took place. 

Unfortunately, there has been a sudden rise in robbery incidents in Guwahati lately. A lot many such cases has been registered in the past few months. The city is slowly turning into a hub of theft. Three cases of robbery at gunpoint has been reported in 10 days.
