TEZPUR: Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health organized a “Swachh Diwali, Shubh Diwali” in its premises. The campaign was initiated vide Ministry of Health & Family welfare, Government of India and in order to raise awareness about the importance of celebrating green Diwali for the well-being of the environment as well as human beings by participating in the events.
During the programme, Director Dr SK Deuri said that there is a need for us to adopt an eco-friendly Diwali and we should take part to teach the society that not only human beings but other creatures as well do live on our planet. Bursting crackers harms the environment causing air and noise pollution which adversely affects human health, respiratory system. The welcome speech was given by Dr JK Das and concept of green Diwali
by M.K. Saharia. An overwhelming number of students from different departments, employees and residents of campus participated in the event. A cultural programme was organized in the institute’s auditorium which was started by Devi Vandana by M.sc Nursing 1st year students, solo song by Dr. Aindrella Dutta, Group dance on title “Mere Ghar Aayo Ram” performed by M.Phil, PSW students, group dance by MMLS students and two skits were played on title “Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya” by senior faculty members and “Life of a significance” by M.Phil, Clinical Psychology students of the Institute. Dr. H. Dutta, Deputy Director & Dr. J. Hazarika, Medical Superintendent of the institute were present in the occasion.
