Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association(ATTSA) burns effigies of Ministers at Doomdooma, Assam

Doomdooma, July 23: Assam Tea Tribes Students’ Association (ATTSA), Tinsukia District Committee burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oran on Saturday afternoon at Gandhi Chowk in Doomdooma town in protest against the dilly-dallying tactics of the Central government regarding the demand of the six ethnic groups of Assam for according Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to them.

According to ATTSA, although the new government gave assurance to accord ST status to the six ethnic communities, yet nothing tangible has been done by the BJP-led NDA government so far. Their latest meeting with the Central government was a display of the government’s lackadaisical attitude only, said ATTSA leaders.
