GUWAHATI: According to police, a youngster was detained in the Cachar district of Assam for posting indecent footage of a young girl online. Ubaid Mehdi, the young man who was arrested, is a local of Karimganj district's Kanishail neighbourhood.

He was apprehended on Wednesday from a bus stop in Cachar, a neighbourhood of Karimganj. Police sources claim that Ubaid, who used the name Rahul on Facebook, had a relationship with the young girl from Cachar.He is accused of filming the girl in several inappropriate recordings while they were having a relationship.

The sources claim that the accused afterward posted the footage on social media when she wanted to stop the relationship. At the Silchar police station, a complaint regarding the occurrence was made six months ago. Police were unable to apprehend Ubaid since he was in Dubai at the time.

There, his father owns a company. The accused, according to a policeman, recently returned to India. When the police learned of this, they immediately began an operation to capture him, which resulted in his arrest."We don't believe the accused is a part of any larger schemes. Prior to this, the Assam administration had previously informed the state parliament that it has created a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to reduce the number of crimes committed against women and young girls. Ajanta Neog, the minister for women and child development, stated that additional actions are being made in this area in response to a question posed by opposition leader Debabrata Saikia on the opening day of the winter session.

"The state government has never before created an SOP of this kind. After extensive stakeholder engagements and a 14-day training course, this was completed. It was informed last month, according to Neog. She claimed that both the home and health departments, as well as the Assam State Legal Services Authority, had approved the SOP's preparation (ASLSA).

Neog said that in order to address crimes against women and girls, 11 unique women's cells had been established in 11 different state districts.
