Assam: Tezpur University Student Found Dead Inside Hostel Room Under Suspicious Condition

GUWAHATI: A Master's Degree student in the final semester of the Environmental Science Department of Tezpur University was discovered dead inside his hostel room at the Saraighat CV Raman Mens Hostel.

According to reports, the youngster was discovered laying on the bed, spewing white foam from his mouth. The door to the room was locked from the inside. The security guard then entered the room.

When this happened, the deceased's father was scheduled to take him home. Following the incident, police arrived on the scene and sent the body for a postmortem examination.

As per sources, Nilotpal Gogoi, from Doomdooma in Tinsukia district, has been identified as the deceased student.

In March, The discovery of a student's body near Assam University on March 14 shocked and outraged the community. Serching Tokbi of Assam's Karbi Anglong has been identified as the deceased. The body was located in his leased home in Silchar's Irongmara neighbourhood. Tokbi was in his third semester of university, working on a master's degree in science. Regrettably, he was discovered unconscious inside his own chamber. According to accounts, after being rushed to the hospital, physicians declared him dead.

In 2022, on September 21, a final-year engineering student allegedly committed suicide in a Tezpur University hostel room. Aditya Tanti, a fourth-year B-tech student, was discovered dead inside the Patkai Hostel.

The student is accused of committing suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan on September 20, however his identity was disclosed on September 21. According to another report, no suicide note was discovered from the dead. Meanwhile, the administration of Tezpur University has refused to release any details on the student's suicide.

In 2021, the body of a Tezpur Central University seventh semester Chemical Science student was discovered at the Kopili Girls Hostel.

The body of Aditi Chao was discovered under suspicious circumstances. The death was being investigated by police. It is still unclear if she died by suicide, murder, or natural causes.
