RANGIYA: There has been an increase in incidents of theft and robbery in the Rangiya region of the state. And one of the latest targets of these miscreants is a primary school.

Thieves broke into the Number 27 Bala Bongaon Primary School located in Rangiya. They had managed to pry open the windows of the classroom to enter the same. After going through all the items in the school, they managed to rob three ceiling fans from the classrooms of the school.

The robbery was carried out and night and managed to trigger anger among the local residents. It is important to note that the same school was hit by robbers five times in the past, making this the sixth incidence of theft in the school. The school authorities registered a complaint regarding the incident with the local police station. The police team arrived at the school and started the preliminary investigation regarding the robbery as the local people, as well as the school authorities, demanded that the miscreants be caught immediately and get the necessary punishment for their actions.

Meanwhile, a protest was carried out recently in Rangiya against the Assam Power Distribution Committee Limited for the irregular supply as well as the exorbitant charges of electricity in the state. The protesters also engaged in sloganeering against the electricity board as well as the local member of the legislative assembly. The people of the region complained that the Number 2 Sub-Division of the electrical department in Rangiya was unable to provide regular electrical supply to the region and it has become a massive headache for the people in this heat. Adding that the region was facing several hours of power cuts in recent days. They also mentioned that the number of transformers put in by the concerned authorities was much lesser than the requisite number and for that, even when there is electricity, the voltage keeps on fluctuating.
