Assam: Thieves Target Historic Moinbari Satra in a Brazen Heist

GUWAHATI: In a shocking and audacious incident, unidentified thieves targeted the historic Moinbari Satra, a revered cultural and religious institution in Assam's Barpeta. This heist, which occurred on a fateful Thursday night, has left the community deeply saddened and the monks in disbelief.

The criminals gained access to the sacred premises by breaking a window, exploiting the absence of anyone within the satra at that time. Once inside, they ransacked this revered place, pillaging around Rs 10,000, which were believed to be donations made by devout followers. The stolen treasures included a golden idol, a precious golden flute, a regal gold crown, and four exquisite golden necklaces. The estimated worth of these stolen items is a staggering Rs 20 lakh.
