GUWAHATI : Ujjal Angkur Borah has been expelled from the hostel of Dibrugarh University under the advice of Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC) on 26th of December, 2022. 

On recommendation of the Anti-Ragging Squad (ARS), the penalty of 'expulsion from hostel' has been imposed on Ujjal.

The 3rd semester student of statistics department in Dibrugarh University has been found to be involved in breaking the rules and regulations of the university regarding ragging on the 26th of November,2022.

The warden, head and director of the department and hostel has been advised to check on the execution of the order.

Prior to this announcement, a 1st semester mathematics student of Dibrugarh university got expelled from the institute and was restricted from admission in other college or university for the next three years. His name is Kamal Krishna Kakoty, a resident of Assam's Sivasagar district.

Whereas, two students namely Chitrabon Baruah and Poban Gogoi has been expelled from the Dibrugarh university for 2 semesters. Chitrabon Baruah was pursuing his bachelors in computer application in 3rd semester, and was a resident of Lakhimpur.

While Poban Gogoi, hailing from Moran, was pursuing his B. Ed in the 1st semester. However, the prime accuse of the Dibrugarh University ragging incident, Rahul Chetry surrendered on 5th of December 2022. Lekhapani police station kept Rahul in 5 days custody after approval from the court.

On 27th of November, a student of Dibrugarh University, Anand Sharma jumped off from the second floor of the hostel to escape from getting ragged. He was critically injured and underwent major surgery. Investigation regarding the matter is still on by the police department.

The case had shocked the entire state of Assam in the month of November. Anand Sharma's backbone was broken as he jumped off the building to save himself from his seniors.

Sharma was rushed to the hospital immediately, and was breathing between life and death.

The administration has taken up measures to eradicate the issue of ragging from all college and universities in Assam. However, few cases of ragging has been registered in the month of December as well.
