Assam: Three-day-long science exhibition kicks off in Udalguri district

In a bid to build scientific temperament and stimulate creativity and address the curiosity of students in a hollistic manner, a three day-long 8th biennial Science, Art and Craft exhibition kicked off on a grand scale here at Arunodoi Academy, a pioneering school of Tangla town in Udalguri district on Thursday.

TANGLA: In a bid to build scientific temperament and stimulate creativity and address the curiosity of students in a hollistic manner, a three day-long 8th biennial Science, Art and Craft exhibition kicked off on a grand scale here at Arunodoi Academy, a pioneering school of Tangla town in Udalguri district on Thursday. The exhibition has been arranged on the occasion of the institution’s 19th foundation day. The exhibition was inaugurated by Project Director, DRDA, Udalguri, Bhaskarjyoti Baruah followed by lighting of the inaugural lamp by senior journalist, educationist and environmentalist Jayanta Kumar Das. DRDA Project Director Baruah praised the efforts of the school management for hosting such an event which would help students build scientific temperament and inculcate their interests in science and technology. Principal of Arunodoi Senior Secondary School, Dr. Pranabjyoti Das, in his welcome speech recalled the day when the school was established with the vision of imparting quality education. Senior journalist Jayanta Das lauded the efforts of the school and mentioned that science exhibition like events are foray for students into the world of science and technology.

A total of 159 attractive and innovative science models mostly working models were displayed by more than 340 numbers of students ranging from Class 5 to 10 which drew appreciation from people. An art and craft exhibition was also arranged by students showing various paintings and hand-made designs of bamboo, wood and fibre, traditional and antique items. Students and teachers of various schools of Tangla and nearby area visited the exhibition. “We have presented a working model on nuclear power plant,” said Rashik Khan and Prantik Sarkar, students who participated in the event. “A few working science models like Wind power generation with automatic street lighting system; Hydrogen Electrolysis; Rain Detector Alarm grabbed visitors’ attention,” convenor of the event, Tirthankar Choudhury said.
