Assam: Three Lives Lost in Separate Road Accidents in Goalpara

GUWAHATI: In a harrowing series of events on Monday night in Assam's Goalpara district, three individuals met untimely deaths in separate road accidents, casting a pall of sorrow over the community.

The first incident unfolded near Marapara village along National Highway 17 at Rangjuli. A truck, bearing the registration number ‘AS-01-GC-1515,’ en route to Guwahati city, turned tragic when the driver lost control. The truck careened off the highway, colliding forcefully with a roadside tree. The impact was devastating, claiming the lives of both the driver, Anjay Rabha (26), and the handyman, Ajay Sarkar (40), on the spot. The truck suffered significant damage in the collision.

Promptly responding to the scene, the Rangjuli police conducted the necessary procedures, recovering the bodies for post-mortem examination. The loss of two lives in this heart-wrenching accident left the community grappling with grief.

Meanwhile, in another unfortunate incident in Goalpara, a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a pickup van at Arimara area in Krishnai town resulted in a fatality and severe injuries. Local police rushed to the scene upon notification of the accident, swiftly transporting the injured biker to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Baguwan, the rider of the motorcycle, succumbed to his injuries, while the other individual involved, identified as Aagiyar, is currently undergoing treatment.

The incidents underscore the vulnerability of road users and the need for heightened awareness and safety measures on the highways. The authorities are likely to conduct investigations to determine the precise causes of these accidents, with a view to preventing similar tragedies in the future.
