TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA) has withdrawn the proposed boycott against Tinsukia district administration and police administration after the officer-in-charge of Kakopathar police station expressed regret over the incident to the secretary and president of Kakopathar Press Club. However, public allegation against the 2 school teachers of Kakopathar Hindi School against whom TDJA raised demand for proper inquiry by district administration remained to be addressed.

The secretary of TDJA Ranajyoti Neog in a press release stated that the clubs affiliated under TDJA can participate in the ensuing National Press Day programme organised by district and sub-divisional administrations. Mintu Talukdar, secretary of Kakopathar Press Club was allegedly detained by Kakopathar police on November 6 on the basis of a complaint by two teachers. The SP of Tinsukia Abhijit Gurav and Tinsukia DC Swapneel Paul immediately reacted to the memorandum submitted by TDJA setting a deadline of 7 days. The issue was cordially sorted out by the respective incumbents after taking TDJA into confidence.
