GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday 16 November announced that 52 more stadiums will be made in the state of Assam in the upcoming days.
The Chief Minister said this while inaugurating the Amingaon Cricket Ground and the pavilion of ACA (Assam Cricket Association) at Amingaon located in North Guwahati.
It is to be mentioned here that, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has given the approval of Amingaon Cricket Ground as a recognized venue of BCCI throughout an inspection. BCCI approved the Amingaon Cricket Ground for hosting various women's Cricket tournaments and age-group tournaments beginning from this season onwards. It has already given the allotment for seven matches of the BCCI U-25 Men's State-A One Day Tournament that is scheduled to start from Wednesday 17 November.
The Amingaon Cricket Ground will host the first Board of Control for Cricket in India and approve the domestic match that will be played between the states of Sikkim and Meghalaya to be held on Wednesday, 17 November.
The Chief Minister in the discussion urged the Assam Cricket Association to look for the development of a state-of-the-art cricket academy for the training of the upcoming cricketers of the state. He further said that with the aim of providing the best facilities to the sportspersons of Assam the government has already assigned Rupees 150 crore for the establishment of a new Sports Complex at Chandrapur, Guwahati. He informed that Assam will get at least 52 new stadiums in the coming days.
While speaking on such a significant occasion, CM Sarma gave emphasis on the pressing essentiality for producing more talented cricket players from the state. The Assam Cricket Association has recently committed to a series of development projects across the state for the betterment of cricket infrastructure. This initiative by the Government of Assam will help in the growth and development of sports in the state by bringing out the most passionate and talented players.
