Assam: Trainee female cop allegedly raped by high-ranking police officer at Dergaon

Dergaon: A trainee female police officer was reportedly raped by a "high-level officer" in the police training centre in Dergaon, Assam. The shocking crime, reported against the bakdrop of several high-profile rape incidents in India, has created ripples across the entire state.

According to reports in the media, the victim's husband brought this incident to light and claimed that a certain Bachchan Singh, a CDI Inspection officer, had raped the woman during a training session. The victim is a female trainee police officer of the 1st Assam Forest Battalion.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law and further investigations are underway.
