DHUBRI:  Dhubri District Agriculture Office organized a specialized training for progressive farmers of maize under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) supported by Indian Council of Agriculture Research - Indian Institute of Maize Research (ICAR- IIMR) at Madusoulmari Agricultural Development Officer Office, Gauripur on Saturday

During the programme, District Agricultural Officer, Umesh Chandra Deka welcomed all the 30 farmers and urged upon them to stress importance in cultivation of maize in the day long training so that they can become self-reliant by cultivating it.

As a trainer, Nirmal Chandra Ghose, Assistant Director of Agriculture and District Nodal Officer, APART, Deep Jyoti Das, Agricultural Development Officer, Madhusoulmari Circle, Dr. Parvesh Kumar, Research Associate, ICAR-IIMR-APART, Dr. Joydeep Shill, District Environment Coordinator, APART provided training on how to prepare the soil for maize cultivation in scientific methods, use of quality seeds for cultivation, maize production practices, nutrient management, pest and disease management and diverse uses of maize as a future crop.

Sajal Kanti Baruah, Sub-Divisional Agricultural Officer (DOCC &TC), Ringsat Narzary, Media Expert along with other official staff and valuable farmers were present during the programme.
