A day-long programme on the Amrit Brikshya Andolan and an awareness programme on ‘Nutrition-rich India, Educated India and Empowered India’, along with a plantation programme to celebrate the Poshan Maah, were jointly organized in Dighiljuli village, Sonitpur, by KVK, Sonitpur.

TEZPUR: A day-long programme on the Amrit Brikshya Andolan and an awareness programme on ‘Nutrition-rich India, Educated India and Empowered India’, along with a plantation programme to celebrate the Poshan Maah, were jointly organized in Dighiljuli village, Sonitpur, by KVK, Sonitpur.

At the onset of the programme, Head, incharge, of KVK Sonitpur, Angana Sarmah, welcomed the participants and addressed them regarding the planting of saplings as part of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan. Pompy Borah, programme assistant, KVK, Sonitpur, talked to the participants regarding celebration of Poshan Maah and importance of human diet in growth and development. Keeping the focal point of Poshan Maah 2023, that is, to cultivate widespread awareness concerning critical human life stages – pregnancy, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, 100 Malbhog banana saplings were distributed among the participants. Dr Namita Dutta, subject matter specialist (soil science), addressed the participants regarding planting and management of Mahogany plants. A plantion drive was also carried out in the KVK, Sonitpur premises. Dr Ranjit Bordoloi, subject matter specialist (fisheries science), talked about fishery as an enterprise that can be taken up for livelihood generation and also emphasized formation of Farmer’s producer company (FPC). More than 70 people participated in the programme and successfully carried out the plantation programme.
