Two Dacoits Killed And One Injured By Assam Police In A "Filmy Style" Car Chase

Goalpara: Two dacoits have been shot dead in Goalpara by the Assam Police in a car chase after the dacoits tried to escape from police custody. This information was shared by Goalpara police on their official Twitter handle. 

"In a truly #FilmyStyle, #ArmedDacoitGang fleeing away in Swift car was chased away frm Krishnai-Dudhnoi-Mornoi &caught in #Goalpara.Kudos 2 well coordinated team effort esp smart SI Sumit Talukdar & Brave DySP Anurag Sarmah 4 finishing task.2 dacoits died,1 injured," the tweet read.

The two dacoits have been identified as Rafajuddin and Basat Ali. Both of them succumbed to bullet shot injury. 

The incident took place at Karbala in Godindopur during a retaliatory firing by the Assam police. The police managed to arrest one dacoit, identified as Rashidul Islam, who has also suffered bullet injuries. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

However, one of the dacoits had managed to escape from the scene and is now on the run. The dacoits have multiple cases of dacoity filed against them.

The car and a gun that was recovered are now under police custody.

Meanwhile, the Guwahati Police Special Squad, led by Joint Commissioner of Police, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, apprehended a Bolero vehicle (MN-07D-3257 ) and recovered a huge consignment of 100 soap cases containing heroin. The net weight of the consignment is around 1.324 kg. Four drug peddlers were also arrested.
