GUWAHATI: A series of accident cases has been registered in the state in past few day. On 31st January night, two hit and run episode has come to light in Assam. 

The first incident took place in Baksa, where a man was hit by a speeding truck at Salbari area of Rongapani region on Tuesday night. The deceased victim has been identified as Selopa Khumtari, who was a resident of Rongapani. Selopa died on spot after getting hit by the truck. 

As soon as the information was released, local police rushed to the place and intercepted the truck. However, the driver managed to escape the situation. Later, police sent the deceased's body for the process of autopsy. 

The concerned department has initiated a manhunt to nab the driver of the truck. Another episode took place in Sivasagar district on the same night. One individual died on spot after getting hit by a speeding vehicle in Tingiripam area. 

The deceased victim has been identified as Kushal Gogoi. However, police were unable to apprehend the man who was driving the vehicle as he fled away from the scene. The police rushed to the spot and sent the body for autopsy. 

On 31st January, a national footballer from Assam, Manjit Rabha died in a similar road accident. The accident occurred in Assam's Goalpara district. Along with Manjit, another person identified as Kurban Ali lost his life in the accident that occurred in Ghazapara road in Goalpara. 

As per sources, the accident took place as a result of head on collision between two speeding motorbikes. It has been identified that Kurban Ali was a teacher. Along with the deceased victims, two other people received severe injuries. It worth mentioning here that, last year, Manjit Rabha participated through the Sunrise team in the GSA football league.
