According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), so far 62 people have lost their lives due to havoc created by rain in the northeast region.

Cachar: Two persons lost their lives in a fresh landslide which occurred in Assam's Cachar district on Sunday.

As per reports, the landslide occurred at Borakhai tea estate following the ongoing incessant rain since the past few days.

Due to landslides, a house was destroyed leading to the death of the two persons on the spot. Both the deceased were identified as Champa Ri and Shibu Ri.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) along with the help of locals carried out a rescue operation and recovered the bodies from the mud and sent it to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), so far 62 people have lost their lives due to havoc created by rain in the northeast region.

Out of 62 people, 51 people died in floods while 11 were in landslides.
